I have now made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas with a vegan husband. He didn't even seem to suffer too much!😀
One of the items I made on both occasions was the Fat Free Golden Gravy by McDougall. My only problem with this gravy is that it starts out way too thick and salty, so I always have to mess with it. Here are my suggestions to make it right the first time!
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth (low sodium!)
1/2 cup water
1/4 c soy sauce (low sodium!)
1/2 tsp onion powder
2 Tbl brown rice flour
Add the first four ingredients to a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil and slowly whisk in 2 tbl brown rice powder. Let boil for a few minutes and assess. Is it too thin? If so, add additional brown rice flour one tbl at a time. If lighter color is desired, use almond milk to dilute the gravy but be careful! Too much will make it too watery.
